I’ve been looking through the source. I could totally fix it, but I worry no one would appreciate my code chops :) And I think the current work on the db changes might invalidate anything I actually try.

10·16 days agoI absolutely hate what Plex has become. I bought a lifetime pass a long, long time ago, and ever since that purchase, they seem to have done nothing but strip features I need and force features I don’t want.
Now if we could just sort the jf collections type in ways other than by date ;)

I think their naming leaves a lot to be desired :)

15·16 days agoPulled the CC data from downsub, asked AI to summarize, then reviewed the CC to make sure it was accurate.
It’s mostly fluff centered around data about a couple of new packs and claimed ranges.
20 kWh Pack
- Range: 350 km
- Charging power: Up to 100 kW
- Adds 200 km of range in 10 minutes
30 kWh Solid‑State Pack
- Range: 600 km on a single charge
- Charging power: Up to 200 kW
- Adds 300 km of range in under 10 minutes
Claims to be largest motorcycle battery of its kind
SO they’re decently large, can charge quickly, I’d be a bit surprised if they were getting those actual ranges in real-world scenarios.

Ads, selling private data, adding AI, cutting features.
I just need JF to be in the same neighborhood as the corporate stuff for security and end-user ease of use. I can do a hell of a lot of complicated stuff on my end, but walking grandma through a change is painful.

112·16 days agoI love EVERYTHING there except
Saved servers and settings will not be migrated from Jellyfin Media Player.
I can fix it, and it’s no big deal, but I provide services to friends and family who’ll need me to walk them through it.
That’s the stuff where we lose out to corporate products.

Linux@programming.dev•Nvidia is reportedly bringing official Linux support to GeForce Now soon, not just for Steam DeckEnglish
1·16 days agoYeah the cap they introduced is damning. They just cut it back a touch… Oh, if you want to play a lot, you have to pay just a little bit more. It wasn’t enough to make them bank or pay for 15 more hours of server costs; it was a toe in the water to gauge the community’s appetite to pay more for less.

2·16 days agoThat’s indeed where they’re headed. I was just clarifying what the service was. I wouldn’t pay for the service. I buy/play what I can run. When I do buy a game, I try to move toward non DRM titles, if I do buy a drm title and there’s a stripped version, i’ll always tuck it away in case steam ever loses their mind.

12·17 days agoYou sign into it, they run the game on their machine, and give you a magically low-latency connection to that server.
They just got it working reasonably well for most users.
Of course, they also just announced hour caps for usage and extra charges in blocks of 15 hours.
I’ve love to have private alpr’s in my neighborhood. We’ve had mailbox thefts and people driving around breaking into cars, even had car stolen. These guys are changing their plates regularly, but it would be super cool to at least get a neighborhood wide alert if someone who’s done done shit has rentered our neighborhood. I’m just not keen on giving that data to 3rd parties lock stock and barrel
