Tangentially related but I have to harp on about it because almost nobody is saying it. Microsoft —and specifically xbox — Had it’s most profitable yearS ever and people (journalists) still try to rationalize every time they raise prices and lay off thousands and thousands of workers

That’s an insane take. Sure, Google is less thorough on checking the garbage that gets on the Play Store, but if that was a factor, malware that has made it on the Apple app store would have done it too. They have never been able to bypass permissions because they’re built into the OS and security hardware.

Permissions, when built-in to the operating system from conception, are much more effective than when they’re half-heartedly tacked on decades later, which is why these issues keep coming up on Android but not on iOS
The thing is, an indeterminable amount of users (and admins!) are feds, so despite giving the appearance of lawlessness, it’s actually fully compliant!
How many cyberattacks on infrastructure do we not hear about because they’re perpetrated by countries in the anglosphere?
The cool part is that 100% of the “AI features” they’re advertising are either not running locally or not AI at all
