2·12 days agoI don’t think they care about ROI for real. If they cared none of that would’ve happened because that’s just not how a real businesses are operating. You can burn the investments into R&D to an extent but if the product’s money flow doesn’t show a positive dynamics long enough - you get ready for some soul searching shit. My guess is that a lot of things contributing to AI bubble have something to do with money laundering.

1·17 days agoI see. Thanks for clarification. I never worked with COBOL myself but have couple of folks on the team who worked with COBOL in banking back during 2000s who still have full-on vietnam flashbacks over it. I guess the COBOL they worked with was an older iteration than you described.

1·19 days agoIts Freemium, at least it was like that. Using COBOL should be regulated by Geneva conventions at this point.

basically my current setup too. it took me just a couple of months on Win11 to straight up give up on Windows because it’s just not very good
