They’ve been known to respond to legal requests to log IP adresses of the users of their VPN. I wouldn’t trust them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Valve: HDMI Forum Continues to Block HDMI 2.1 for LinuxEnglish
1·5 days agoI understand why, but you didn’t have to. Many smart TVs let you set them up without Wi-Fi and just use the HDMI ports.
Samsung, LG, and Google TV models do, but Roku and Fire TV do not.

2·5 days agoIt doesn’t matter if you get one. They are the cheapest and best image quality TVs available, and many like Samsung’s let you set them up without connecting to Wi-Fi.

2·9 days agoThe Android UX can be changed in a fork. Samsung’s One UI is a good example.
I haven’t found any issues with it. The problem with making their own is that the MS Office file formats are purposefully poorly documented with the spec being over 6000 pages long and MS Office itself not adhering to it. It would be best to start with something where most of the work is done for them.
Is Onlyoffice enough for you?
Onlyoffice uses a different engine. It has much better MS office file support but worse ODF support.
They should have forked Onlyoffice, however I appreciate the effort to make their own from scratch.
Why don’t they fork Onlyoffice for this?

2·18 days agoI hate them both. Librewolf and Ungoogled Chromium are the true private and non-profit browsers. Firefox and Brave are full of bloat like Firefox’s ads and tracking and Brave’s Wallet, News, Talk, VPN etc

2·19 days agoHDO Box, Onstream, BeeAnime are quite good. You don’t need debrid or a VPN for them as they’re not torrenting.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Advice, myths, and reality regarding privacy when travelling to China?
0·23 days agoGet a cheap phone like a Galaxy A36 for the trip, then install some VPNs with GFW circumvention like Windscribe, Proton and Psiphon before you go.
You should also get a roaming SIM card, preferably from an MVNO or an eSIM app do you don’t get rip-off prices.
Roaming SIM cards usually route traffic through their native network like a VPN which bypasses the GFW and gives you some extra privacy.
And once you get there, don’t say anything negative about the Chinese government or politics.
Watching YouTube videos and reading posts here about unrelated subjects is okay as long as you are using a roaming SIM card, a VPN or preferably both togther.
It’s copying Notepad++.
