Controlling media is crucial, specially the internet, where the common joe can give his opinion and show what he is seeing. Imagine explaining to soldiers they are going into a war that will kill millions of people in order to keep capitalism running. The same capitalism that gave us no cure for diseases that have expensive treatments, that gave us famine and obesity at the same time, that gave us colonialism, unemployment, homelessness, etc etc etc. There can be no free flow of information. Things will probably only get worse
