Linux isn’t a single distro though so just hop to one that doesn’t have it for those who don’t want it.

Yeah, keeping the public in the dark so people against it aren’t there to voice their opinion is how these like this get passed. Media attention to inform the public was a good thing.
They chose a funny example too with Ford when the more appropriate one would be Tesla with it being in current events. But, they went with a dead person because it doesn’t help their argument.
Then there’s me owner of Android and Apple and talks shit on both haha.
They kind of got that rep though for defending things people saw as anti consumer such as soldered ram, limited, storage, and blocking installation of non Apple apps. Always going Apple knows best and its for security.
Not exactly the group known for demanding more, but ones who are more complacent.
I’m an Apple owner too with MacMini and iPad so these criticisms of Apple users isn’t coming from a non Apple product owning hater. I think average Apple fan in general really sucks for how they seem to kneel over to whatever Apple decides compared to other platform users who are much more critical and demanding of products.
Wish there was a way to make our own phones as opposed to be continuing to be at the mercy of OEMs who build phones without the intention of people running custom roms. Wish it was like PCs where we could pick and choose our own parts without having to buy prebuilts.
Yep, switching as many apps as you can to foss apps, and moving to non Gmail based email services will make future switching way easier.
Used thinkpads are cheaper and reuse is one of the best ways to reduce ewaste by using something that was headed to the landfill. I’ve been happy with my t480s.
With PC people can get pick up whatever cpu, gpu, motherboard, and ram they want and put together a machine. But, phones are so much more reliant on prebuilts with little to no options when it comes to making your own phone hardware, so that is likely the largest barrier to becoming as open and flexible as PCs.
I use mostly foss apps which provide a way to export data, so every couple weeks I’ll export it out to backup.
My back up process is syncthing to sync files between my phone and PC and then a separate actual back up of those files to another location.
I use freetube on my desktop. Fix for that is taking a while.
Yep I like pipepipe because it has sponsorblock.
That’s unfortunate. Looks like thinkpads aren’t worth getting. I generally do not trust manfucturer preinstalled OS.
If os can’t be installed off a usb then that means linux can’t either, which makes it a pretty sad machine to spend money on.
So it must be a work or school device then? Which users wouldn’t be installing OS on anyways with it being handled through IT.
Rufus can be used to disable account creation along with other settings.
Great find with Open Video Editor! Been looking for a good video editor like that on the phone.
Times of Cyanogenmod and Paranoid Android was the golden years when we were excited about how awesome tech would be as opposed to how it’d be used to exploit, control, and spy on people.
Its also funny how they edit their comment on their downvotes because it upset them.
No one sideloads? Have you not heard of this niche indie game called Fornite that was removed from Google Play and Epic pushed sideloading means to install it?
Yep. It gets exhausting how much effort it takes on part of the user to find a way to not have to use a Microsoft account and disable all the things they don’t want. LTSC makes it easier but that isn’t even a version Microsoft makes easily available, so once again users have to jump through so many hoops trying to retrieve a verified iso and activate it.
Meanwhile Linux is pick a distro among many that appeals to you and get going. It makes Microsoft feel like they hate its userbase and views them as nothing more than data to collect and sell.
