I read it as “to break off” not “to temporarily interrupt”
Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.
Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.
Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

Forgive them
Nah. Just forget them.

Most of the “500+” will simply ignore their legal requirements and eat the fine.
But some won’t.
So it’s better than continuing to do nothing, it’s at least vocally (legally) saying they aren’t cool with it.

Here’s how it’s gonna go:
Government of california: “delete this”
Company: no
Gov: okay well here’s a fine for $200 million, don’t do it again
Company: that’s fine, we made $1.8 billion with the data, this is just the cost of doing business
repeats next year but with a sternly worded letter
Prove me wrong, California. Break companies out of existence when they break the law. Don’t just slap them on the wrist with a fine.

I’ve never heard a girl use those measurements.
Women, however, use them frequently enough.
Sorry for being pedantic but it rubs me the wrong way when people refer to women as “girls”
Edit: Guess this part of lemmy is cool with infantilizing women. Didn’t know people around here were cool with sharing traits with pedophiles, but here we are.

What elegance might even an extra millimeter of chassis space produced?
People really don’t seem to understand that in the electronics world, one single millimeter can make worlds of difference.
You absolutely can cram so much more stuff in “dumber” electronics, but phones are even more constricted in design, because they need to send and receive signals of different types, so feedback and signal noise are concerns.
Adding in even slightly more space allows for much better design, because you have more tolerances to reduce signal noise. It allows dozens of wires for camera sensors to route better. A 20% longer battery life. Heck, just being slightly more ergonomic and less droppable is a bonus to slightly thicker phones.
I didn’t even consider signal noise until I got into fpv drones and rc stuff, it can mame a ton of difference if you have a single wire 2mm out of place. (and crash your drone because the motor interfered with your antenna)
Thiner≠better.

That’s fair.

The obvious choice is “don’t buy tvs that might do this” but if you’ve already got one, open up the case, find the wifi antenna, and pull the little connection out.

I’d love to be able to repurpose my old kindles. I have 3 of them that have been gifted over the years and another two that I could probably just ask for since family members have newer ones.
Ideally I just want to have a simple ebook reader and nothing else for at least two of them.
The only issue is from the (admittedly small) searching I’ve done, they aren’t easy to root or install custom roms due to the software version or how new they are. I’ll admit I don’t exactly know what I’m even looking for.
I’d rather reuse things I already have than buy a new tablet just to read books on, especially since it seems like they’re just overpriced generic crap that all looks and mostly feels the same.

go fuck a duck
Poor duck…

SNAKE?!

This is exactly the dumb shit take from y2k.
I Still hear people go on about how “it was supposed to be this big thing and then nothing happened! Smart people are so dumb!”
Yeah nothing happened because a lot of smart people worked very hard to fix the goddamn problem, you fucking shitwaffle.
Here? “You dum dums got so worked up thinking it would pass and then it didn’t, so the freak out was for nothing!” yeah it didn’t pass because a lot of Europeans got very upset about their governments trying to spy on them harder than ever.
I’m not European, so I can’t say how people talked about it openly on the metro with random strangers, but online? People were vocal and pissed. A PROPER government (lol can we have some of that functioning democracy please) listens to its people. This was them listening to the people.
The people’s reaction was appropriate, and necessary. And shouldn’t be lessened just because “lol you guys got so propaganda’d and it was obviously never gonna happen and I knew cause I’m so smart” is quite the take on things.

France usually does a pretty good job of fucking shit up when the people in charge go against the populace.
I guess too few people today are actually concerned about privacy. Honestly I think it comes from a place of ignorance. They don’t understand the dangers so they don’t believe there IS danger.

reads manual
You’re only confused because I’m dumb! For some reason I was thinking toner and laser were separate types.

I bought a toner printer in 2020 and I’m still on the first replacement cart. I have over 2000 pages printed.
Considering I spent $80, plus $40 on the new two pack of toner, I consider it money well spent.
I do wish I had bought a laser printer though… There are things I would like to begin printing that will be several thousand pages after it’s all finished. Mostly reference materials. DISREGRD THIS I DUM

edit: wow, Redditors are better at accepting the truth, lol
So go pander to them.
If I own something, I can do whatever I like with it because it’s mine.
If I can’t do what I like, it’s not truly mine.

Millions of tax dollars invested in programs, thousands of tax dollars in this case alone brought a hardened criminal mastermind to justice, over a bicycle that cost the company maybe $50 from the manufacturer.
I hope someone along the line stopped at any point to realize how colossally wasteful it was.
Friendly educational reminder that the most effective way to shoot down a drone is 12ga bird shot and clay target loads, you don’t need to pierce the body you only need to break the propellers. Your range isn’t infinite, but it’s better than video games would have you believe. Of course this information is only relevant if you decide to substitute clay target shooting with drones, as one does.
English IS my first language and it still tripped me up. It’s an easy thing to swap, especially without much context.
