It is up to the parents to parent, that’s their responsibility. How is this bill improving the lives of children?
Once you reach orbit you can fall forever and never crash.
That isn’t how it used to work.
Why would they care what subnet the request is coming from? That’s wack.
Can you give me an example of remote direct access that would be blocked? You can use nginx to forward your public IP to your Plex and it’s fine, you can forward ports directly on your router and connect to your public IP, you can use a VPN to connect from a different network; what are they limiting? It’s the same hurdle you have to overcome with Jellyfin. Relays are convenient, but they also cost money.
If you connect with the IP address it doesn’t charge you. You can use ZeroTier to connect from anywhere.
Right, the $2 is to use the relay service, which costs Plex bandwidth. They can’t just do it free for everyone forever, bandwidth costs money.
The $2/mo is for the Plex relay service. If you access the server directly it should be free.
Gina got fired for something she did outside of her job. Jimmy got fired for doing the job he was hired to do, because a government official threatened his employer.
The first amendment is to protect against government censorship, it has no intention to protect you from public outcry. It should have protected Jimmy, but it’s irrelevant in the case of Gina.
VLC definitely has evangelists, they have just become the dominant culture so you don’t really notice it. They don’t have an advertising budget, it got popular through word of mouth.
I think Linux enthusiasts appear more evangelical because of the deep entrenchment of Windows; you are noticing the push back and debate, whereas with VLC you just see people recommending it and people being grateful for the recommendation.
