The reason why the free internet existed for so long was because it was a big ideological project for the US. (the internet is the space of all ideas and as such represents the platonic/christian concept of heaven). It’s only now ending because it’s served its purpose. The people have exchanged ideas worldwide, and that only needs to happen twice, similarly to how you can only infect yourself with the same virus once (because the second infection does way less impact), you can only infect yourself with the same idea once. So, once the worldwide ideas are exchanged, the internet serves very little purpose anymore.

I’m saying it again: We can’t know what’s true anymore. Whenever something happens more than a few miles away, chances are high that you know nobody who was involved there physically, so there’s no reliable way of knowing what actually happened anymore.

I think we can only make reasonable choices about things that are close enough to ourselves; not about very far-away entities.

Well the advantage of having the subtitles be a text overlay over the video is that the subtitles can be separated from the video; like, you can switch them off and on and change languages (which i sometimes do as i speak multiple languages and am interested in how they translated it) without having to store multiple GB-sized video files - one for each language - for the same episode.

Netflix makes dope original productions in my experience; I’ve watched many of their shows and enjoyed them.

It’s not wrong to give money to studios that produce good content. What’s important IMO is that the money really goes to the studios, and not to some big banks trying to leech off it.

Like, “ethical” means that the money is used to keep the studio running that is producing the anime; not that the money goes to some big banks to profit off anime.
