The people who block HDMI for Linux are also the people who make TVs and other media stuff. So you may not be able to use displayport or hdmi just because some rich people decided so to make more profit.

That’s why we are on Lemmy though, to have broader points of view without much censorship.

There’s nothing evil in Steam monopoly. Their evil thing is gambling.

How is that legal in the US?

You don’t even need to pay them, this service is free.

Why the heck is everything stripped to them
You need some CDN to hide your server IP from DDOS. Cloudflare is the only free one. AWS and Azure are the big ones with many additional services and seemed pretty reliable. So here’s 95% of the Internet probably.

You are right. Thank you for replying.

world where every household has rechargeable AA batteries
What do you need AA batteries for? And why do you think the whole world also does?

Exclusives don’t benefit anyone.

just running great on any distribution
Just running great on some Bob’s distribution for which Bob made sure no game will ever run on it…

Well they are pretty open on that you should not use it.

MS still depends on sales of licenses
It’s not 2014, their business was selling cloud Linux and opensource since 2018 if I remember correctly.

You are not their customer, you are their product.

Very few games require malware. They are not adding this requirement now, it was already there. American company requiring you to install malware to use their products is no better than a Saudi company. So who will be affected by this? A few dudes who pretend they like freedom but still install malware game on a malware os?
There’s whole industry to solve this problem and yet there are many millions affected each year meaning it’s not even close to being solved. Maybe quite the other way around judging how companies like Google recently said it’s a big problem for them.
The dude above says it themselves: you need to be smart to not fall for some malware(which they are wrong about, there many examples of smart people falling to phishing). Luckily LLMs are perfectly smart and never do stupid shit, right?
