I’d give Syncthing a try. Though you should make some kind of tunnel so that they can communicate without relays, the speed there really depends on what traffic the relay is going through.

And next year they’ll come up with a different chat control thing. And one day it will pass.

If you want to self host, rent some cheap server somewhere (I use Hetzner) the will act as a proxy and then configure frp.

It’s basically what Cloudflare tunnel does, except you need to provide the public server instead of Cloudflare giving you one for “free.”

Simply download the official Windows ISO, open VirtualBox, mount the ISO, install Windows inside VM.

If you have a product key, put it there, otherwise simply run it unlicensed.

Afterwards install the VirtualBox host additions inside the VM.

Note that VirtualBox isn’t open source, so if that’s a concern for you, you’d need to use a different software. IIRC virt-manager is kinda easy to use, though not as user friendly as VirtualBox.

Anyway, what’s hard about seeing up dual booting? Doesn’t the installer simply do it for you?

Well, simply not possible. Might not be what you want to hear, but iOS simply isn’t for you if you’re not prepared to pay for pretty much everything.

Unlike Android there’s not a lot of good free stuff and you can’t pirate anything on iOS.

Perhaps, not a fan of viruses though.
